3 EYED BEAR by Maarten Janssens

3EyedBear has been the starting-point to a whole little paper universe for Dutch Paper-engineer Maarten Janssens.

It's the first kit he created to test his idea that 3-dimensional objects indeed could travel the world over by internet. The name popped up at a brainstorm-session with Berlin-based designer-deluxe Manuel Osterholt and Maarten thought the idea and image of a bear with three eyes to be só iconic, that he should go with it. One of the main reasons behind the bears' succes would be the blanco template to give designers all over internet the opportunity to (re)create their graphic or artistic world onto a 3-d canvas. In retrospect Maarten believes that all these ever refreshing visions show what the third eye of the bear is really seeing.

"Ricks from Paper People came to me with the idea to have papertoys stimulate artists and events drawing a public and thus creating awareness for a good cause. It's quite a leap from paper to this good cause, but also very possitively creative and therefor hard to resist. So I suggested they would use the blanco 3eyedbear template and have their artist-friends go nutty with the template. To me it would be a satellite-event for sharing even more custom bears, to Paper People it meant that they had a template to work with and did I already say it was for a good cause?..."  -  M.J.
